There Goes (Varoom! Varoom!)...

So, I went to see the new Star Trek movie last May, in Imax. (Not just Imax, but four-storey tall Imax, at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13.

On the way upstairs, I noticed two display cases featuring customized USS Enterprise models. A closer look, and I discovered that Jim Lee had modified one. (The other was done by Jeremy Kaplan.)

I snapped a few pics, then enjoyed the movie.

Here's another view. Jim Lee's Deviant Art page and MySpace blog. And here's the official site of all 25 models!

Of interest:
#4 Robert Rodriguez
#17 James Franco

If you start with #1 (a reproduction of the movie design) and then select "previous" on the menu, you will find #00, a blank model.

It's The Great Watermelon, Charlie Brown!

I discovered this on the way to the subway this morning, set aside for recycling. (The local greengrocer doesn't have floorspace for this carton.)

When I was a child, Peanuts had not endorsed many products. (Licensing, yes, but Charles Schulz was very particular about design and production, and demanded quality.)

Back in the day, Peanuts had endorsed:
but not much else. Today? Who can say?

Hmmm... I was thinking I should have grabbed this for eBay, and a search online discovered the actual source of the above packaging. I'll have to keep an eye out for the "Great Pumpkin" carton next Fall!
